The Eurasian Wryneck Jynx
torquilla is an uncommon passage migrant and scare winter visitor to all
areas of Saudi Arabia from late March to late April and again in August to
early October. Winter records have occurred from November to January. Birds are
normally seen in the early morning or late evening when they often feed on
ants. They are not an easy species to see and an even more difficult one to
photograph so Arnold has done very well to capture such a good photograph of
the species. He saw the bird at Shubaily in mid-April along with a few other
migrants including Tree Pipits, Spotted Flycathers and European Bee-eaters. I
