Sakhat Al Fasl still held at
least ten Egyptian Nightjars on Friday 29 August. This is getting quite late
for them so it will be interesting to see if they stay into September. Birds
have been seen at this site from June all the way through the Summer and it is
interesting to think why they may be at the location for such a period. Birds
can be seen sitting under small bushes and occasionally flying around. The area
where the birds are allows photography against the sky if the birds fly high
enough which is good for photography. When they are flying against the reed
beds f similar the camera finds it very difficult to lock focus on the birds.
Phil and I spent a bit of time trying to get a few good flight shots as
otherwise it was very quiet migrant wise. My best efforts are shown below.
