Still plenty of Egyptian Nightjars - Sabkhat Al Fasl

Sakhat Al Fasl still held at least ten Egyptian Nightjars on Friday 29 August. This is getting quite late for them so it will be interesting to see if they stay into September. Birds have been seen at this site from June all the way through the Summer and it is interesting to think why they may be at the location for such a period. Birds can be seen sitting under small bushes and occasionally flying around. The area where the birds are allows photography against the sky if the birds fly high enough which is good for photography. When they are flying against the reed beds f similar the camera finds it very difficult to lock focus on the birds. Phil and I spent a bit of time trying to get a few good flight shots as otherwise it was very quiet migrant wise. My best efforts are shown below.
