Whilst at Sabkhat Al Fasl I saw a few Squacco Herons catching fish in the shallow scrape area of the site. They were catching quite large fish and this individual below caught quite a large fish and was having trouble working out how to eat it. It made several attempts at swallowing the fish before eventually working out the right way to eat it without getting the fishes spiny fins caught in its throat. I took a series of photographs of the bird in the act of eating the fish that are shown below. The number of Squacco Herons at the site have decreased considerably over the last few weeks, but there are still about twenty birds present.

Whilst at Sabkhat Al Fasl I saw a few Squacco Herons catching fish in the shallow scrape area of the site. They were catching quite large fish and this individual below caught quite a large fish and was having trouble working out how to eat it.
