The Pitted Beetle (Adesmia cancellata) is a day active Beetle that is becoming more visable by the day. Whilst walking around the pond yesterday I saw 50+ Pitted Beetles many of which were in the act of mating. In some instances there were four beetles all compting with each other for a mate. These beetles are fast running and feed on plants where they also spend time rsting from the harse and hot sun. This is the most common beetle seen in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and is a medium sized species measuring about 15 centimetres lengthwise across the carapace.
