I am afraid I have no idea what type of plants these are, but there are plenty of them flowering in the desert at the moment. It is always a spectacular sight to see the desert covered in small flowers in the spring and the butterflies like it even more. Clouded Yellow and Painted Lady butterflies have been seen recently enjoying the flowers, but small flies and bees are the main pollinators by the look of things. These photographs were taken at a sabkha area near the Arabian Gulf just north of Dammam. It will only be a short time and a few migrant birds will also be hopping around these plants but as of now I have not seen any migrants in them.
