Whilst at the Chicken Farm ringing last Friday we saw about ten adult and five young large gulls. They all appeared to be Steppe Gulls and were resting on the piles of chicken excrement. They did not allow very close approach before flying a short distance and landing again but I managed to take one photo of an adult type Steppe Gull showing the four toned bill and pale eye typical of the species at this time of year. The head streaking is also quite faint and restricted to the nape whihc is typical with some having even less head marking than this one.
